Conversation: It makes sense
[sees little sister making some contraption out of paper]
Me: Whatcha doing, beauty-bop?
Sister: Making an envelope for my cents.
[points to her head]
Sister: Not the cents in here.

A Better Place
My Japanese friend is returning home soon. She's been living in my country for about three years, and during that time, she's been someone who has been a part of my life, on and off, in a number of ways.
I was mentioning to a good friend of mine that when my Japanese friend told me she was going home, I wanted to cry. Actually, I think I did, a bit.
My friend just said to me, "She'll be in the world, so it's not so bad."
I think I may have to agree.

Grounded
Something as simple as a status update on Facebook can manage to get me down. An acquaintance of mine was reporting her location in the world-- somewhere in Germany.
It bums me out a little to think that I've never left this damn rock.

If you wubba me then I will wubba you
Today I looked at my Nobue avatar on MAL and thought that she looked unfamiliar. As though, perhaps, it was the first time I ever really saw her.
It's like looking at yourself in the mirror and wondering who is this stranger staring back at you. Do I know you? Or maybe I've forgotten you? Something like that.

Conversation: Breakfast
Little sister: "Why when you eat breakfast you stare at the table or at the TV... even when the TV is off?"
Me: "Hmm, maybe I'm crazy!"
Little sister: "Yeah, that's why I stopped eating nuts."
Me: "..."

Mothers and Sons
When my brother's girlfriend broke up with him, my mother hugged him and said, "No matter how many women come and leave, Mom will always love you and be there for you."
It made me feel a bit lonely.
